Lt. Gen. Bashiir Mohamed Jama, Somalia’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, met with Steen Sonne Andersen, Denmark’s Ambassador to Somalia, to explore ways to enhance bilateral collaboration on climate resilience and sustainable development.
During the meeting, Jama underscored the importance of deepening ties between Somalia and Denmark in addressing climate challenges.
Ambassador Andersen reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment, highlighting its expertise in climate finance, macro-level development initiatives, and continued support through partnerships with the World Bank.
The minister also provided an overview of the ministry’s Climate Finance Unit and its efforts to secure funding for climate adaptation and mitigation projects.
Additionally, he invited Denmark to participate in the upcoming Somalia Climate Summit, a key platform for advancing the country’s climate agenda.
The discussions reflect growing international cooperation in supporting Somalia’s environmental and climate priorities.
