Azerbaijan has extended an invitation to Somalia to participate in COP29, which is the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Somalia received the official invitation late last month.

Jeyhun Bayramov issued the invitation officially during his meeting with Ahmed Moallim Fiqi in Baku.

Bayramov is Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Fiqi, his Somali counterpart, had been in Baku on an official visit when they met.

This invitation reflects the growing international interest in including a diverse range of voices in discussions on climate change and sustainability.

The conference will be an opportunity for Somalia to engage with global leaders and stakeholders on climate action and environmental issues.

COP29 will run from November 11-22, 2024.
