The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA), with the support of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has launched the La Niña Preparedness, Mitigation, and Response Plan.
The three organizations launched the plan on Tuesday in Mogadishu.
This initiative aims to strengthen early warning systems and implement proactive measures to reduce the risks of droughts in Somalia.
The plan emphasizes coordination between agencies to respond effectively to the anticipated impacts of La Niña, particularly focusing on areas prone to extreme weather events.
The efforts will help build resilience in vulnerable communities, ensuring timely interventions to mitigate the effects of drought and protect livelihoods in the country.
