The State Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Omar, along with other ministry officials, visited the Mayor’s Office in Mogadishu.

During the meeting with Mayor Yusuf Hussein Jimale on Sunday, they discussed the banning of single-use plastics, emphasizing the environmental and health hazards associated with them.

Mayor Jimale praised these efforts, acknowledging the severe impact of plastic pollution on public health, the environment, and the overall beauty of the city.

He urged the ministry not to relent in advocating for the total ban of such products in the city and the entire country too.

This initiative aligns with Somalia’s growing focus on environmental sustainability and urban cleanliness.
