Somali farmers have been commended for their role in improving food security and resilience in the country despite the challenges posed by climate change.
Roland Kassab, the Head of Operations for the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Somalia, highlighted this on Wednesday.
He was speaking at an event held to mark the World Food Day 2024.
In his speech, Kassab reiterated the importance of World Food Day 2024 and Somali Farmers Day in fostering food security and sustainable agriculture in Somalia.
Kassab, who was in the company of officials from the federal Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, called for collective efforts to build resilience in the face of ongoing climatic challenges.
This event serves as a reminder of the critical role farmers play in ensuring food availability and promoting sustainable practices in the region.
