The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has announced a collaboration with the University of Hargeisa to boost Fodder production in Somaliland.

FAO announced the partnership on Thursday.

It added that the partnership, which would also be supported by the Swiss Embassy in Kenya, will focus on enhancing the capacities of fodder producers.

This initiative aims to improve community social cohesion and promote sustainable land management practices.

Strengthening fodder production not only supports the livelihoods of local communities but also contributes to better land use, helping mitigate environmental degradation and fostering peace and cooperation within these regions.

Lack of adequate fodder is a serious problem in Somaliland and the surrounding areas due to the effects of climate change in the region.
