The Food and Agriculture Organisation’s Somalia Water and Land Information Management (FAOSWALIM) has launched an initiative to conduct ground verification of open water points.

The water points in question were identified through remote sensing by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.

This process ensures the accuracy of critical data that supports water resource management, drought preparedness, and humanitarian efforts in Somalia.

The project is essential given the ongoing need to mitigate the impacts of climate phenomena like La Niña.

These efforts are made possible with support from Germany, showcasing international collaboration in addressing Somalia’s water-related challenges.
