Mohamud Moalim, the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), met with Javier Rio Navarro, on Tuesday.

Navarro paid Moallim a courtesy call at the SODMA offices in Migadishu.

Navari, the head of the European Union Humanitarian Office in Somalia, discussed climate change strategies with the SODMA chief.

Furthermore, they discussed the country’s current humanitarian situation too.

However, much of their talk centered on priority actions needed to address the impacts of climate change.

Somalia has endured some of the worst effects of climate change over the last few years.

These include drought, heavy El Nini rains and serious floods that destroyed farmlands, killed livestock, and left dozens of people dead or homeless.

Moallim and Navarro explored ways to enhance the capacity of both regional and federal aid agencies to respond more effectively to these challenges.
