The Green Climate Fund (GCF) has approved $151 million to support the African Development Bank’s climate resilience program in the Horn of Africa.

This funding will help address the region’s climate-related challenges, such as droughts, floods, and food insecurity, by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, enhancing water resource management, and building climate resilience for vulnerable populations.

The Horn of Africa, which includes countries like Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Djibouti, faces significant climate risks, and this program aims to strengthen the region’s capacity to adapt to these challenges and mitigate their impact on livelihoods and ecosystems.

GCF approved the funding on September 2, 2024.
