Somalia has started discussing preparations for the upcoming 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is more popularly known as COP29.

The conference, which is scheduled for Baku, will take place from November 11-22, 2024.

The Minister of State for Somalia’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ahmed Omar, along with Kamal Gutale, the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office, and other Director Generals, convened a critical meeting to discuss Somalia’s preparations for the upcoming COP29 climate summit.

During the meeting, they reached a consensus on finalizing a unified national agenda, which will guide Somalia’s contributions and priorities at the summit.

This move aligns with the country’s broader efforts to tackle climate challenges and assert its position in global climate discussions.
