The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Said Mohamed (Siciid), has launched a two-day consultation aimed at developing Somalia’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0).

This initiative seeks to align Somalia’s climate action strategies with key national development frameworks, including the National Development Plan, Vision 2060, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The consultation brings together experts, stakeholders, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure that NDC 3.0 is practical, actionable, and capable of attracting climate finance.

Dr. Siciid highlighted the importance of a well-structured NDC 3.0 in enhancing Somalia’s resilience to climate change, securing necessary funding, and strengthening adaptation efforts.

The discussions focused on integrating NDC 3.0 into Somalia’s broader national priorities while ensuring alignment with international climate commitments.

The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions to shaping Somalia’s climate future and advancing the country’s sustainable development goals.

This consultation marks a critical step in Somalia’s efforts to address climate challenges and achieve long-term environmental and economic resilience.
