Somalia has officially ratified the Environmental Protection and Management Law.
Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, announced the ratification on Saturday.
Al-Makhzoumi commended parliament for passing the law.
She also extended her gratitude to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for supporting the enactment of the law.
The minister labeled the law a crucial step in safeguarding the country’s resources.
According to her, the law would also prove critical in promoting sustainable development.
She called upon all stakeholders to work together to protect the environment for posterity.
