Somalia’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has upped the ante in its efforts aimed at securing climate financing for the country.

Under the leadership of minister Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, the ministry seeks to address the country’s environmental challenges and enhance climate resilience.

This funding, which may come from international donors, climate funds, or partnerships with global institutions, is intended to support various initiatives, including sustainable land management, reforestation, renewable energy projects, and disaster risk reduction.

The financing will help Somalia adapt to the impacts of climate change, which include frequent droughts, floods, and other extreme weather events, while also promoting sustainable development across the nation.

This achievement reflects Somalia’s growing commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development amid its ongoing efforts to rebuild and stabilize the country.

The funds are expected to be allocated towards projects that will have a long-term impact on the country’s environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
