Hormuud Telecom, the largest telco in Somalia, has embraced renewable energy.
This year, the firm announced that more than 80 percent of all its equipment in its stations around the country run on renewable energy.
Senior Hormuud officials confirmed that it has taken this step to help it with the effects of climate change.
Furthermore, Hormuud confirmed that it’s seeking 100 percent transition to renewable energy.
In the last few years, Somalia has continuously struggled with prolonged periods of drought.
Towards the end of last year, it grappled with deadly flash floods.
To this end, Hormuud is setting a great example regarding the alternatives available to the government, businesses, and individual households.
